I'm narrowing my decision to 3 Kubotas:
Tractor B2630 B3030 B2800
Base 13,500 14,500 12,500
FELoader 3,000 3,000 3,500
MMMower 2,100 2,100 2,100
I'm guessing that I can negotiate by starting significantly lower, but unsure how much.
I have 1 acre of tree-filled lawn, 2 miles of trails, 4 acres of fields, and another 16 acres of woodland. It is well sloped riverfront, rising 100 feet per 2000 feet.
I'm leaning toward the B3030. I want my wife to enjoy it. Should I also consider a 7800? Any thoughts?

I believe your 2800 choice would be the L-2800. The L series is going to be a larger frame tractor than the B, maybe a little large for what you want to do. I have the B7800, and really like the machine. Doesn't have all the bells and whistles of the 30 series B's, but a nice machine. If position control on the 3-point is important along with hydraulic pto clutches, lean towards the B3030. If not, I believe the 7800 would be a nice tractor for you. Drive them all, then decide what you are most comfortable with. Your wife may be a little less comfortable with the L-2800. The hydrostats on the B3030 and 7800 nake then very easy to handle.

You're right, I meant the L2800.
I'm also considering the B7800, and it might come down to pricing. The two tractors (B3030 and B7800) are identical in most ways.
How did the pricing on your B7800 work out?

November of 2003, $15,900 out the door for the 7800. We have spent many $$$ adding some 2910 parts to it that make it a nicer tractor. All together, including the rear remotes, probably have $17,500 in the tractor.
I pointed out what I think are two important differences between the 7800 and the 3030. The 3030 has position control for the 3-point, and hydraulic pto clutches. If these features are important to you, you would be dissapointed with the 7800. Many of the other differences between the machines are more "creature comfort" than function. ....

I just bought a B7800 with Folding Rops and a Mid PTO for $12,100.
I didn't even consider the B3030 because of the lack of a foot clutch for the PTO. There are already enough levers on the tractor to keep my hands busy, being able to disengage the PTO clutch with my left foot is a big advantage for me. ....

To better know what size you might need what are you going to do with it? There is no mid mower for the L-2800 is there? For a tight lawn I'd be looking into the smallest tractor and the largest deck. ....

What are they advantages to a mid-mount mower, only maneuverability? Easier to store? Anything else?
There certainly not cheaper!
Thanks to your feedback, I'm narrowing my decision to the B7800 and the B3030. Has anyone experienced a noticeable difference with the 4 cyl. engine?
I'm still interested in pricing experiences too. ....

Don't underestimate the importance of manuverability. If you plan to use a CUT for finish mowing, a mid mount mower is essential mowing in tight areas and around obstacles. Rear finish mowers have a lot of tail-swing and are more suited to large open areas. If you plan to bush-hog your trails and 4 acres of field, you might be better off skipping the MMM and getting a rider or used zero-turn instead for the same $$$. ....

5 years on a B2710, If I did it again, We would go with all the creature comforts. We as in, the wife LOVES it. The weight to power factor, ease of getting in tight places, and absoulutely zero problems. She loves it so much, she went out and bought a Kubota RTV. Gotta love it! ....

I just bought a 7800 this past spring. The difference in price between it and the B3030 was $2,000. The difference is in the creature comforts. The engine drive train, etc. are all the same. ....
